About 189.
189. is a Brazilian jewellery brand founded by designer and goldsmith Stephanie Perla, dedicated to creating timeless pieces through sustainable craftsmanship and artistic expression. Each piece is entirely handmade in Brazil using recycled, high-quality materials, always nickel-free and hypoallergenic. At the heart of 189. is a deep respect for both traditional techniques and contemporary design — a combination that results in jewelry that is sculptural, emotional, and enduring.
Stephanie’s journey began in the world of fashion, where she studied at Faculdade Santa Marcelina in São Paulo before expanding her creative path to jewelry. She continued her studies at renowned institutions such as Central Saint Martins in London and Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School in Florence, developing a distinctive style that merges technical mastery with an organic, poetic sensibility. Her background in fashion design continues to influence her jewelry practice — especially visible in the movement and flow of each piece, as if metal could drape like fabric.
189’s signature is texture. Each surface is carefully composed, evoking natural elements, memory, and rhythm. Many pieces are created using ancient techniques, such as the Japanese Nunome Zogan inlay — seamlessly fusing silver and 24k gold without fire. The collections are inspired by diverse influences: architecture, Brazilian and African artistic heritage, the strength and grace of women, endangered Amazonian trees, and the lightness of the wind. Every collection tells a story and honors a connection to people, places, and purpose.
Stephanie’s work has been exhibited internationally in cities such as Paris, New York, Milan, and Bucharest, and she continues to teach and mentor new generations of artisans, always guided by values of sustainability, authenticity, and innovation.
More than jewelry, 189 creates wearable stories — crafted by hand, designed with care, and made to last.
